What is the Disability Staff Forum?

Main content start

We are a diverse group of staff and faculty, with and without disabilities, interested in promoting awareness of disability issues. DSF was established in November 1989 to encourage and involve people to gain support, to gain access, to gain knowledge to explore and develop opportunities for the disabled, and to help people learn more about disabilities. This group is also helping to continue to improve access on campus by identifying and removing barriers.

You are invited to come to join us:

  • To share your insights and experiences about accessibility challenges
  • To help advise on ways to improve access for individuals with disabilities on campus
  • To help provide opportunities for the non-disability community to learn about the diverse disability community at Stanford
  • To share ideas and resources around emerging assistive technology
  • To discuss ways to increase the recruiting, hiring, and retention of employees with disabilities
  • To help build our community by planning disability awareness activities and events

DSF holds monthly social hours and quarterly business meetings throughout the year and we sponsor:

  • Educational and training workshops
  • Speaker series and brown bag lunch meetings
  • Social events and activities
  • Safety and learning events and trainings
  • Networking events
